Paris!

I absolutely love when I get a challenging request...well let me re-phrase that...I absolutely love when I get a challenging request and it actually turns out! I got asked to make these Paris themed cookies for a girl from work. She requested the two designs and since I didn't have time to order up some new cutters, I decided that I would test out the ole free-hand skills yet again. Fortunately they turned out just how I envisioned, and I only had to say a few curse words when my ultra thin tip was getting clogged up with black RI. I couldn't help it!

Although it is difficult to tell in the pictures, I used the classic Paris color combo of light pink and black. They were dainty and just perfect for the birthday girl! Happy baking, happier eating!

  3. Oh my, these are stunning!

Is there a trick to using small tips? Do you thin the piping consistency? I have the hardest time using a #1 tip :(

  5. Thank you all!
@ Heather: I use flood thickness icing when piping through small tips unless I am writing something, then I just use the stiff icing. I do however make sure my icing is very well mixed because one clump can kill my patience! I actually use an even smaller tip than a 1, I think it is like 271, it is thin thin thin!
@ bethannhoffman: lol! I am an anesthesiologist ;)

  8. These are fantastic! Did you do the fleur de lis as transfers or did you pipe them onto the cookies?
